Mill Island – a vision of public space in Bílovice nad Svitavou

Bílovice nad Svitavou is a small village near Brno. The village lies on the Brno–Česká Třebová railway line and is crossed by the Svitava River, near which there are numerous cottages and a former sanatorium for the chronically ill. Bílovice is surrounded by extensive wooded slopes, which form countless romantic valleys with rich mixed forests and hillsides with healthy, clear water. It is also a crossroads for a number of hiking and cycling trails.

The area stretches across an island bordered by the Svitava River and an artificial stream flowing through a hydroelectric power plant.
